Messiah Lutheran Church

Call For Artists: We invite you to participate in The Big Picture Gallery at Messiah Lutheran Church. We are accepting exhibition submissions for 2015-2016.

Our Mission... to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Strategy... to create environments where people are encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders.

Our Vision... to be a church where unchurched and churched people love to attend.

About the Gallery
Art can often be used as a pathway by which God can make Himself known, and can be the catalyst creating intimacy in a relationship with God. The Gallery hopes by showcasing artwork through themes, and rotating art throughout the year, will draw interest and invite a new sense of community within the church. The purpose for the Art Gallery is to use the display of art as a catalyst for outreach and conversation. (Community with Insiders, and Influence with Outsiders). We would like to create conversations of faith connecting people to a relationship with God.

Messiah Lutheran Church History
Messiah was organized on December 31, 1966 as a group of individuals worshipping together wanted to become more committed and become a larger influence with Godís mission in the Wilmington area even when they werenít sure where the money was coming from to create such a place and even when there was no building, land or staff to create a church.
On May 16, 1967, Messiah Lutheran Church was officially recognized as a member congregation of the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod. At that time, we knew it wasnít just about members and today we know itís not about us. Itís about the world. After many leaders, many passionate hearts and hundreds of volunteers have stepped forward, God has given us a vehicle by which we can be used by Him to impact lives. God has given us the resources and manpower to partner with Him to what Heís committed to doing because God loves all people. And if anything is evident and undeniable when Jesus stood one day and said, ďGo and make disciplesĒ, it has happened with no other explanation than the fact that it was a mission of God, and Godís been involved from the very beginning of this church. We are honored to have this privilege of carrying on this mission today.
